So the other day i called the psychologists office to let them know that for now we were scaling back mikey's therapy.
due to the fact that mikey hadn't really seen this guy more than twice, and i wasn't too comfortable with him anyway, i was going to find someone else to see mikey in the next few weeks/months for psychology...
Just a few examples... this man who we were taking mikey to told me that he would require atleast 6 sessions to evaluate mikey for an assessment - i've been told by other therapists in psychology that it requires much less - this is for a base line assessment of where they're starting at.
the 'therapy centre' had no signage and was just an ordinary house.
Also when adam and I were there - both at different times, the therapist we were seeing seemed to not actually interact with mikey much at all - but when he did, he was inapropriate, asked mikey for a cuddle?!?!?!, just spoke to us the whole time. We aren't there to by psychoanalysed, Mikey is...
each session takes $200 out of our funding... in 6 sessions thats 1/6 of our funding!!
i'd rather spend it on an actual therapy than someone who is going to tell me wht i already know about mikey.
Anyway so i called up the office and told them what was happening on the advice of the OT and Speech therapist... but this was a problem evidently because the man called me back and questioned me about why, how and when i was taking him out of therapy... he seemed quite angry actually which makes me wonder two things... was he just interested in the $200 from fachsia funding? or were my bad vibes from him accurate and he wasn't a good person.
it also made me wonder... he had the nerve to say to me 'i'm just looking out for whats best for mikey' - now.... would a real psychologist actually say that?! wouldn't that know better than to say something like that to a mother?! i responded that he had nothing to worry about, that i had that covered and soon after hung up the phone.
I'm going to be contacting Coast to Coast psychology and organise an appointmet for mikey to have a psychometric test conducted (IQ test required for his application to the school at Terrigal) and if we're happy with their services mikey will continue to have therapy there.
